Jun 7-8 – SC-213, Enhanced Flight Vision Systems and Synthetic Vision Systems (EFVS/SVS), will meet in joint plenary sessions with EUROCAE WG-79 at EUROCAE in Saint Denis, France. The focus of these meetings will be to prepare the new MASPS (Minimum Aviation System Performance Standard) for EFVS (Enhanced Flight Vision System) and SVS (Synthetic Vision Systems) to enter Final Review and Comment/Open Consultation (FRAC/OC) later in 2023. The group intends to perform the final review for the EFVS MASPS and SVS MASPS concurrently, so the documents are aligned.

Jun 12-16 – SC-223, Internet Protocol Suite (IPS) and AeroMACS, will meet jointly with EUROCAE WG-108 at Frequentis in Vienna, Austria. Pre-registration is required to attend. The group will spend the week working to resolve all comments received in FRAC/OC on DO-404/ED-315 which is the MASPS for IPS. The group is working to publish the document in September 2023.

Jun 12-16 – SC-216, Aeronautical Information Systems Security, will meet in joint plenary with EUROCAE WG-72 at RTCA in Washington, DC.  They will continue work to revise two documents. One will include guidance on change impact analysis, and one will address performance requirements for event reporting. The group is also working on two new documents – one to address management system for information security and the other to address generation, storage, and delivery of data. All four documents are expected to be published in 2024.

Jun 15-16 – SC-238, Counter UAS Systems, will meet in joint plenary with EUROCAE WG-115 at EUROCONTROL in Brussels, Belgium. They will continue their work on an initial SPR document for non-cooperative surveillance systems for detection of UAS. The group will also discuss Terms of Reference (ToR) changes to combine their SPR and INTEROP documents.

Jun 16 – SC-227, Required Navigational Performance, will meet virtually in plenary with EUROCAE WG-85. A new change proposal for DO-283C, the RNP MOPS, was introduced at their plenary session in May. The change proposal was specific to the operation when selecting a different STAR runway transition as coded in the navigation database. The group will consider the impacts of the new change proposal and whether there is consensus to add the new requirement to the RNP MOPS.

Jun 22 – Program Management Committee (PMC) will meet at RTCA in Washington, DC. They are scheduled to review and approve three standards for publication (one on traffic alert and collision avoidance systems, one for lost command and control link UAS behavior, and one for airborne weather radar systems), review recommendations from a White Paper on possible work on a turbulence standard, and review several Special Committee Terms of Reference (ToR) changes.

Jun 23 – SC-240, Topics on Software Advancement, will meet in joint plenary with EUROCAE WG-117 at RTCA in Washington, DC. The group is focused on the work of SG-2 which is a Software Supplement addressing the use of COTS (Commercial Off the Shelf) and Open Source. The group is currently completing an internal review and comment and will consider the timeline to initial OC/FRAC on the document in 2023.

Jun 26 and 30 – SC-206, Aeronautical Information (AIS) and Meteorological (MET) Data Link Services, will meet in joint plenary with EUROCAE WG-76 at Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association in Frederick, MD. They plan to continue work on DO-364A/ED-XXX to add newly defined AIS and MET service descriptions and kick off work on a new turbulence document.

Jun 29 – SC-235, Non-Rechargeable Lithium Batteries, will meet virtually to approve DO-227B for a second FRAC period and possible ToR revision. This document revision addresses the continuing changes in technology and differing opinions with respect to lithium batteries.

Jun 30 – SC-214, Standards for Air Traffic Data Communication Services, will meet in joint Plenary with EUROCAE WG-92, and the AEEC Data Link (DLK) Systems Subcommittee at EUROCAE in Paris, France. The groups will discuss a resolution to VDL Mode 2 radio receiver interference, a resolution to FAA Data Comm and European DLS operational issues and continue work on revisions to the VDL Mode 2 and DLK standards.

Jun 30 – SC-217 w/WG-44, Aeronautical Databases, will meet in joint plenary with EUROCAE WG-44 at RTCA in Washington, DC. The group has requested an update to their Terms of Reference, which will be considered by the Program Management Committee, to extend the dates for the expected publication of DO-200C in 2024 and DO-201C in 2025. The documents will address the impact of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Performance Based Navigation requirements, and Data Driven Charting on the existing standards.
