RTCA is issuing a Call for Participation in SC-243: Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) Development Assurance

On March 14, 2024, the RTCA Program Management Committee approved a plan to launch a new Special Committee to address Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) Development Assurance. This group will work with EUROCAE WG-128 to create an internal evaluation of potential updates needed to DO-254 “Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware” published in 2000.

Over the past 24 years through its application on certified programs, as referenced A(M)C 20-152A, several improvements, clarifications or complements to the DO-254 standard were raised by authorities and Industry. Understanding the importance of maintaining harmonized certification requirements and guidance material among Authorities, and recognizing that AEH technology is evolving at a rapid pace, it is feasible that some topics in the original standard may need to be clarified or amended, and additional guidance may be needed. Note that DO-254 is technically equivalent with ED-80 and the work will be undertaken jointly with a EUROCAE group.

If you are an RTCA Member and interested in joining SC-243, please request to join through AerOpus. You can obtain information about upcoming meetings for SC-243 and all RTCA committees here.
