Sep 14 – SC-206 w/WG-76, Aeronautical Information and Meteorological Data Link Services, met in joint plenary with EUROCAE WG-76. Part of the group was hosted by The Boeing Company (Netherlands facilities) and part of the group was hosted by NCAR Mesa Lab (Boulder, CO). They continued work on DO-364A/ED-XXX to add newly defined AIS and MET service descriptions and kicked off work on a new turbulence standard. There was also discussion on adding two new tasks to the Terms of Reference (ToR).
Sep 18 – SC-186 w/WG-51, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B), met virtually with EUROCAE WG-51 and approved the ADSB-In white paper for submission to the RTCA PMC and EUROCAE Council for publication. SC-186 and WG-51 also presented updates to their respective ToRs and discussed future work.
Sep 18 and 22 – SC-216 w/WG-72, Aeronautical Information Systems Security, met in joint plenary with EUROCAE WG-72 at EUROCAE, Saint Denis, France. They continued work to revise two documents. One will include guidance on change impact analysis, and one will address performance requirements for event reporting. The group is also working on two new documents, one to address management system for information security and the other to address generation, storage, and delivery of data. All four documents are expected to be published in 2024.
Sep 18 & 22 – SC-223 w/WG-108, Internet Protocol Suite (IPS) and AeroMACS, met in joint plenary hosted by EASA in Cologne, Germany. Now that DO-404/ED-315, the MASPS for IPS, has been published by RTCA and EUROCAE, the group will work to update DO-379/ED-262.
Sep 21 – PMC, Program Management Committee, met at RTCA in Washington, DC. The group reviewed and approved two new documents (MOPS for dual-frequency multi-constellation satellite-based augmentation system airborne equipment and MASPS for Aeronautical Telecommunications Network/Internet Protocol Suite) and two revised documents (updated SPR and updated INTEROP for Baseline 2 ATS Data Communication) for publication, approved one administrative change for one Special Committee (SC) ToR, six ToR revisions, received updates on important SC activities, and discussed several significant topics.
Sep 21 – SC-147 w/WG-75, Traffic Alert & Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), met virtually with EUROCAE WG-75 to continue updates on ACAS Xr for rotorcraft. The group also discussed and approved the process to make the Julia source code available through RTCA with the SC-147/WG-75 supplements.
Sep 22 – SC-239 w/WG-119, Low Range Radar Altimeter, met in a joint plenary at RTCA to discuss the on-going work to revise ED-30() and DO-155() to be Revision A of the document. The revision will become a technically equivalent document for EUROCAE and RTCA which provides the minimum operational requirements for Radar Altimeter systems including antenna standardization requirements.
Sep 25-26 – SC-235, Non-Rechargeable Lithium Batteries, met virtually in plenary to continue work on completing Final Review and Comment (FRAC) resolution on DO-227B. With the extensive changes from this resolution process, the group is planning to release the document for a second FRAC. This will put the publication into late 2024.
Sep 28 – SC-224, Airport Security Access Control Systems, met virtually in plenary and approved release of their guidelines document DO-230M for FRAC. This item is scheduled to be published in early 2024.
Sep 29 – SC-236 w/WG-96, Standards for Wireless Avionics Intra-Communication System (WAIC) within 4200-4400 MHz, met in plenary at RTCA and completed answering all comments received during Final Review and Comment/Open Consultation (FRAC/OC) on the WAIC MOPS. The group will send the PMC the document to consider for publication in December 2023.
