In December 2018, Frequentis hosted a joint Plenary of EUROCAE Working Group (WG) 108 and RTCA Special Committee (SC) 223. The meeting gave the committee members the opportunity to review the draft IPS Profiles Document and prepare for a Final Review and Comment/Open Consultation (FRAC/OC) to take place in January and February of 2019.
SC-223 and WG-108 coordinate closely with both the AEEC and ICAO IPS efforts. ICAO Annex 10, Volume II and ICAO Document 9896, Edition 3 provide both high level requirements and operational context. ARINC Specification 858 for avionics, currently in draft, intends to define the Internet Protocol Suite (IPS) for Aeronautical Safety Services. The work of the committees bridges these two efforts.
In addition to the profiles document, the group is creating a Minimum Aviation System Performance Standard (MASPS) for IPS for avionics certification. The MASPS is expected to be complete by December 2019 and then will also enter a public commenting period.
The next face to face meeting of the committees will take place in March 2019 at RTCA. For more information about this committee, please visit the SC-223 page.
