Oct 3 – SC-147 w/ WG-75, Traffic Alert & Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), met at RTCA to discuss revisions to the Terms of Reference (ToR), review schedules for the ACAS Xr and Cooperative Surveillance MOPS, and review the planned revision to ACAS Xu MOPS.

Oct 7-10 – SC-135 w/WG-14, Environmental Testing, met in a joint plenary with EUROCAE WG-14 at RTCA Headquarters in Washington, DC. The group is completing an internal review on implemented change proposals on all sections prior to initiating Final Review and Comment/Open Consultation (FRAC/OC) on DO-160H. FRAC/OC will include soliciting comments from the public, in early 2025.

Oct 7 & 11 – SC-216 w/WG-72, Aeronautical Information Systems Security, met in joint plenary at EUROCONTROL, Brussels, Belgium. They continued work on a revision to DO-392A (Guidance on Information Security Event Management) and development of two new documents entitled Information Security Management System for Aviation Organizations and Standard on Aviation Data Security. Additionally, the group is working on a report to provide clarification on DO-356A and a change one to DO-356A for new supporting information. These documents are expected to be published in mid to late 2025.

Oct 8 – SC-222 w/WG-82, Aeronautic Mobile Satellite (Route) Services (AMS(R)S), met virtually in joint plenary to approve release of MOPS DO-262G/ED-243D and MASPS DO-343E/ED-242D for FRAC/OC. Publication of these documents is projected for late 2025.

Oct 15-18 – SC-214 w/WG-78, Standards for Air Traffic Data Communication Services, met at Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA, and approved FRAC comments for one document: DO-353B/ED-231B Change 1 Interoperability Requirements Standard for Baseline 2 ATS Data Communications, ATN Baseline 1 Accommodation (ATN Baseline 1 – Baseline 2 Interop Standard). The document will be presented to the RTCA Program Management Committee for approval and publication in December. Additionally, the group continued its work on a new standard for ATS Data Communication Verification Test.

 

Oct 17 – SC-213 w/WG-79, Enhanced Flight Visions Systems/Synthetic Vision Systems (EFVS/SVS), met at RTCA and approved two documents, MASPS for SVS, SVGS and CVS and MASPS for EVS and EFVS, for submission to the PMC for December publication. The group also updated its Terms of Reference with potential follow-on work.

Oct 17 – SC-244 w/WG-129, Take-off Performance Monitoring (TOPM) System Strategy, met virtually in joint plenary for final approval on an internal report with recommendations for possible standards development or revision to current standards regarding TOPM issues. The group also discussed revision to their ToR related to the recommendations in the report.  Both the report and the revised ToR are scheduled for presentation to the Program Management Committee in December.

Oct 18 – SC-227 w/WG-85, Standards of Navigation Performance, met in a virtual plenary and approved both  DO-236F, the MASPS for Required Navigational Performance, and DO-283C, the MOPS for Required Navigational Performance, to send to the RTCA PMC for publication by Program Management Committee at their December 2024 meeting.

Oct 24 – SC-235, Non-Rechargeable Lithium Batteries, met virtually in plenary to complete comment resolution of items from DO-227B’s second FRAC. The group will present the document at the December Program Management Committee (PMC) meeting for publication approval.

Oct 24 – SC-243 w/WG-128, Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) Development Assurance, met in a joint plenary at EUROCAE Headquarters in Saint Denis, France, to finalize their internal report on needed updates to DO-254. They plan to meet again on November 7, 2024, to finalize the report and suggested Terms of Reference changes that will complete DO-254A in 2027. Both the report and the Terms of Reference will be presented at the Program Management Committee meeting at RTCA in December 2024.

Oct 25 – SC-159 w/WG-62, Navigation Equipment Using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), met in joint plenary at RTCA Headquarters in Washington, DC. The group discussed finalizing DO-292A and DO-373A for presentation to the PMC for publication approval. They also continued work on DO-401A/ED-259B, the initial MOPS and CIE for Verification and Validation, as well as finalizing a BeiDou Internal Report.

Oct 25 – SC-217 w/WG-44, Aeronautical Databases, met in a joint plenary at Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The group continues to make updates to DO-201C and hopes to publish the new revision in 2025. Additionally, minor errata were discovered in the publication of DO-200C. It will be sent to the PMC for approval at the meeting in December 2024.
