David Pierce, PhD, CISSP
Dr. Pierce has worked various roles in the requirements, architecture, development, test, fielding, and maintenance of civil and military avionics for 33 years. Dr. Pierce has written requirements, developed architectures, written and tested software, performed system test, accumulated flight time during customer acceptance test of product, and interfaced with customers, primes, and government agencies. Dr. Pierce has been focused on cyber security for avionics since 2003. This includes leading internal research programs which have won internal awards. It also includes developing system architectures, product and technology roadmaps, presenting capabilities to customers, and SME support for meetings internal and external. Dr. Pierce is a subgroup chair for RTCA SC216 Aeronautical Systems Security, a member of Aviation Rule Making Committee (ARAC) Aircraft Systems Information Security Protection (ASISP), and a member of the FACE Security Working Group. Dr. Pierce has published and participated in panel discussions concerning cyber security topics. Dr. Pierce has a CISSP, a BSEE from Michigan Technological University, and a MSEE and PhDEE from Michigan State University.
